Five Heathside teams took part in the National Relay Championships in Birmingham. Teams have to qualify so just getting to the start line is an achievement. Other events in the week were the Be-Fit Open and the Watford Open.

With attention on Birmingham and the European Championship it was a quieter week saw a number of Heathsiders at Open Meetings with Thomas Archer producing a season’s best and fastest 1500m time at the Watford Open.

The highlight this week is the Club’s Track and Field Team securing our highest ever position in the Southern Athletics League of 5th place. This follows the Club’s Men’s Vet team securing a place at the League final in September.

The week’s largest club participation was at the Battersea Mile Relays, where 15 of our teams participated, with top individual performances going to Anna Rawsthorne and James Haynes. Elsewhere, Elkie Baker competed in the European U18 Discus final in Italy, Alex Sweet earned UK qualification at the Backyard Ultra distance by winning in Perth, and Gavin Evans collected a club V65 5Mile record
