As the days get shorter it seems many of the races do too – with xc filling a lot of the weekend race timetables.

This report was sent in by Andrew Wooding: ” A great start to the Chingford League season for London Heathside, with a lovely sunny day out in Dagenham enjoyed by all!
The men made a particularly strong start to life in Division 1, finishing 2nd overall behind Southwark AC. Samuel MacAulay led the way with a superb race win in 26:06, with Andy Barnes 3rd overall in 26:34. Victor Tanguy, Etienne Daries, Alex Sursham and Andrew Wooding completed the six-man scoring team.
We had 11 men and 2 women racing in total. Kiara Corkin was our first woman home in 33:11 and picked up maximum points in the U20 competition, while Sue Eedle completed the women's team.
With the best five of six league races counting, 8 points is a really strong start to the season. The aim now is to keep putting out a strong team at every race, particularly on the men's side, where Division 1 looks like it could be very competitive this year.

Simon Baker reported: “Some strong performances from the young athletes at the NWL YA League. A win for the U16 Girls, 2nd for the U12 Girls and 3rd for the U16 Boys with all the other club teams 5th or better. There were no U18 Athletes taking part. Individually Lizzie Paitoo in 3rd was the highest individual placing.”
