Heathside women third in North London Cross-Country Champs
There was plenty of Heathside racing action from last weekend. Highlights include a third place for Genevieve Weston in the North London Cross Country Championships in Hanwell on Saturday, with the club team coming third overall and a second place for E Kaloukian and for the club in the men’s under-18 race as part of the event; two sub-2:45 marathon PBs – Sammy Keenan (2:43:20 in Frankfurth) and Andrew Roberts (2:44:01 in Battersea) and a 16:14 Parkrun for 46-year-old Tom Aldred in Woking.

“Geneiveve Weston secured the highest place finish with 3rd in the women’s race helping the women’s team (Annabelle Judd, Anne Wolfe, Kim Butler) to 2nd place in the team event with 63 points just behind Hillingdon on 61 points. Ealing Eagles and Serpentine had 71 points. The Men’s team who were the reigning champions finished in 3rd place.”

Frankfurt Marathon, October 25
Two Heathsiders competed in the flat, fast Frankfurt Marathon on Sunday and both picked up PBs. Sammy Keenan ran 2:43:20 and Michael Crook, 3:04:59.

Battersea Park Running Festival Marathon, Saturday October 24
Three Heathsiders, and one ex competed in the multi-lap Battersea Marathon (competing alongside half marathoners) and, as in Frankfurt, both ran PBs – Andrew Robertson in 2:44:01, Ben Jacobs in 2:53:39 and Melvin Lewis in 2:59:46. Recent ex-Heathsider Deng Atol (now running for Clapham Chasers) ran an excellent 2:45:15.

Eighty-two Heathsiders took part in 32 Parkruns on Saturday. There was an outstanding first for Tom Aldred, 46, in Woking (16:14) and in Walthamstow Andrew Baldock won in 18:00. Full results here
