COMPETITION INFORMATION

Come winter or summer, rain or shine, you’ll see us competing. Mud, hills, road and track, we do it all. Here are the events we enter teams into. Check out our fixtures to see all the competitions on offer – there’s a danger you’ll fill your diary every weekend. Chose carefully, and talk to your coach.

Cross Country

In autumn and winter, we take part in: 

The Metropolitan League – our club focus. Five races from October to February. Every finisher counts. 

Sunday League – men and women run together, usually over 8k.

Chingford League - See Below

Championships – we race in the North London/North of the Thames, London, Middlesex, Southern and National Championships. 

One Off Races - The Club Compete in the Fraternity/Sonority Cup in Trent Park which is also one of the Chingford League races.

Masters - The Club have active Masters cross country teams who enter County, Regional and National Masters Cross Country Races

Cross Country Relays - Depending on demand the Club enter teams for the County and Southern Cross Country Relays

Entry fees to Championships are generally paid as part of your membership fee and the Club will arrange travel where the races are outside London or the South East.

Track & field

Our men and women fill every track and field event going in the Southern Athletics League. There are five fixtures over the summer, generally in and around London. We can’t guarantee the sun will shine, but top camaraderie is a promise we’ll keep. No experience necessary – you’ll need to be 15+ for this competition though.

We’re also out in force at the Middlesex champs in May, as well as the Southern Track and Field Champs. 

Masters Athletics

The Club have an active Masters section (Over 35’s) and compete in the Eastern Counties Masters League with dedicated meetings held over the summer.

Young Athletics

Our Young Athletes compete in the Middlesex Young Athletes League, and in a combined team with Highgate Harriers in the Upper Youth Development League


Road running

We send teams to the Southern Spring and Autumn Road relays. Depending on demand/Qualification the Club can also enter the National Road Relays

Club members enter and compete in all the Big Marathons and Road Races whether in the UK, Europe or US

As a result Marathon season is always a busy time. Heathsiders compete in a range of spring and autumn marathons and the Club organise sessions to support everyone with training sessions for those running their first or 50th race!

In recent years our female team have won a medal in the London Marathon UK Club Championships. The Club are allocated 4 places for the London Marathon each year. The Club award Prizes for our first female and male runner.

And there’s the much-loved club competition – the Rob Jackson Road Race championships. Throughout the year you’ll go head-to-head with your teammates for top club honours, over distances from a mile to 20 miles. We’ll crown the top three men and women at the Christmas shindig.

Running Leagues

For the 2021/22 the Club have rejoined the Chingford Running League, giving Club Members even more opportunities to race for free in the Blue, Red and Gold.

This innovative running League includes member clubs from across North East London and features 7 races; 3 on the Road, 3 XC races and one relay. Friendly, Competitive and suitable for all standards races are more laid back than the Met League and more competitive than the sunday League.

The Club will start in Division 2.

The League also includes Junior races for U11, U13, U15 and U17s.

Triathlon

The Club have an active Triathlon section who regularly compete over both Triathlon or Duathlon formats.
