Junior Training Materials

This page provides some training materials for our young athletes to try at home.

Training Ideas

The young athlete coaches have circulated the following training suggestions.

We have updated these slightly to follow the most current government advice. It is still currently alright to exercise outside but please run with only ONE other person and always  keep at least 2 metres from other people

The training ideas below are based on current government guidance but if changes to restrictions are applied please follow the new guidelines and maybe move your exercise indoors!

Being responsible: Local parks and open spaces may be busy so you need to take extra responsibility for social distancing.

·         Go early morning to avoid others  e.g. 7-9 am

·         Run off the main paths – use the grass, woods, quite roads with wide footpaths

·         Move far to the side to avoid others, slow down or stop to let them go past at a distance.

Safety:  Younger athletes should go with one other person preferably from your household – maybe it is time to get you mum, dad, uncle or big sister/brother running (or cycling) with you!  But we have included some ideas if your ‘responsible person’ stays in one place to watch you.

Try to do at least 3 different sessions each week

We’ve given a guide for both Under 11’s and Over 11’s but see what works for you.
