Road Relays, Hasty Hare, Great North Run and British Masters
Lots of action this week with the start of the Autumn marathon season, Andy Barnes 3rd at the Hasty Hare 5km in addition to the last track events and Junior Road Relays. Mark Lawrence, Robin Hardy and Noelle O’Regan all won medals at the British T&F Championships in Derby

A great turnout of heathsiders ath Battersea for the lates Sri Chimoy races, first home was Andy Barnes in 3rd with Francesca Stocco the 3rd Woman. Tom Aldred was 5th overall and Isaac Edwards 7th. Nick Gibson reported “Personal highlight was running 17:39 breaking 18mins after 5 years of trying (PB) and Seyfu appearing at 4km with words of encouragement
(before quickly heading off into the distance) as he did his training session.”

Battersea Park 5k, 10k & Half Marathon — HM, Battersea, 12.9.26
Gavin Evans reports “Three Heathsiders ran in the Run Through Half at Battersea Park on Saturday September 12. Michael Lynksey ran an excellent 1:15:28 to take
fifth position overall in this eight-lap event. Melvin Lewis, who said he was using the race as a tune-up for the Battersea Marathon next month, ran a sprightly 1:21:43, making him the
third V45. And I ran 1:33:01.
More than two months ago when I paid for this event, I thought I was registering for a 10-mile race but when I arrived it was a 5k, 10k and half-marathon, and although I showed them the bank payment for the event, they had no record of me, so signed me up for the half. The problem with companies like Run Through organising races is that their idea is to make a profit, which makes them very different from races organised by clubs. So they crammed all three races together, meaning that after half an hour nearly 400 10k runners entered the field
and then around 120 5k runners. So aside from cyclists, dog walkers, skaters and the like the paths were blocked by large batches of 10k and 5k runners, requiring plenty of
weaving and some slowing down. In future I will avoid RunThrough events.”

British Masters T&F Championships, Derby, 11-13.9.26
3 Heathsider secured medals at the British Master’s Championships in Derby with the Club’s Head Coach securing Gold in the M55 Long Jump although his 5.51m would have won the V50 category as well. Noelle O’Regan secured silver in the W35 400m. Robin Hardy had a busy weekend taking part in 4 heavy throwa winning a silver in the V60 Shot.
