A mixed report this week with lots of Indoor Track and Field action as well as road running with some Heathsider’s heading to the warmth of Malaga closer to home and Milton Keynes Tom Aldred was 2nd in the Milton Keynes Half Marathon. Indoors it was Minimarathon time with Elizabeth Paitoo 1st YR3 girl. Filipe Cardoso also enjoyed a Ultra Race around the streets of North East London completing50Km before the weather got the better of him.

This week’s race round-up includes the results from the Met League involving the famous river crossing, a strong showing from both the juniors and seniors, with several age category wins. A relatively quiet weekend of running, but big results. Seyfu Jamaal and Jessica Prior were placed first (respectively) in the Fraternity/Sorority XC in Trent Park, Heathside U13, U15 and U17 boys teams won and U15 girls team came second in the NWL XC League also at Trent Park, Conor Brown achieved a great time in the San Sebastian Half and Heathsiders did well in the Last Friday of the Month, with James Hurrell coming in third.

The featured event this week was the London XC Championships held on Parliament Hill, where our Men took the team title, with Seyfu picking up the individual silver medal. The women’s team took 4th place, but unfortunately the Junior events were cancelled.

This week has an international flavour with Heathsiders in action in New York and Porto. Closer to home many more tackled the mud and rain in the Liddiard and Sunday League Cross Country.

The main events this week were the North London cross-country championships in Hackney Marshes, in which the Heathside women and men finished in second place and the Sunday league cross-country race in Watford. In addition, Karina Kaufmann was crowned GB duathlon champion.

At the season’s opening Met League event both the Senior teams performed well, with the Women’s team in 1st place, Rebecca Piggott taking an individual 2nd place, and the Men’s team in 3rd The Junior Women also won their event and the U13 boys & U11 girls placed third. Elsewhere. Seyfu Jamaal added the club 10mile record to his collection at the Great South Run, the Women’s team placed fourth at the opening Sunday League XC, and there was a good turnout at the Cabbage Patch road race
