Tom 2nd in Milton Keynes Half Marathon

A mixed report this week with lots of Indoor Track and Field action as well as road running with some Heathsider’s heading to the warmth of Malaga closer to home and Milton Keynes Tom Aldred was 2nd in the Milton Keynes Half Marathon. Indoors it was Minimarathon time with Elizabeth Paitoo 1st YR3 girl. Filipe Cardoso also enjoyed a Ultra Race around the streets of North East London completing50Km before the weather got the better of him.

Sadly the Southern Inter-Counties Cross Country was cancelled with athletes on the starting line frustrating for the young Heathsiders who were making their debut for Middlesex.

Cross Country

SEAA Inter-Counties, Oxford, 10.12.23

This race an inter-counties competition was unfortunately cancelled with the U13 Girls already lined up at the start with the race officials deciding the course was unsafe as medical cover would not be possible if there was an incident on several parts of the course. Many of the U13’s ran the course and the late timing of the cancellation made the press following on from the London Youth Games cancellation in November. Sadly a number of our Young Athletes representing Middlesex (some for the first time) had made the journey and will have sadly not had the opportunity to take part.

Dawn to Dusk Ultra Marathon, Ilford, 10.12.23

Filipe Cardoso sends the following report:- “For the 3rd time in a row, I entered the Dawn to Dusk ultra marathon, organised by the welcoming Sikhs in the City running group. The race consists basically of running as many laps as possible of a 2km road loop in Northeast London, starting at sunrise and finishing at sunset (just under 8 hours). In previous years, I held on till end and slowly climbed positions as runners ended their race before the cut off. This year, the rain, cold and a blister got to me. So, I decided to call it a day at 50km, enjoy a hot cup of tea and a delicious samosa before catching the 123 bus I kept seeing during the race. Jose Rodriguez finished 1st and broke his course record from last year, finishing 100km in 7:28:01. Holly Harris was the first lady and 4th overall, completing 68km in 7:40:14.”
