Hyrox, London Excel, 25.11.23 – 26.11.23

Congratulations are due to Jo Irwin who excelled (no pun intended 😊) at the recent Hyrox event at the London Excel, winning a spot in the world champs next year.  Here’s her report

“I did my first ever Hyrox event at London ExCel where I had a blast. Hyrox is a newish hybrid fitness racing competition  consisting of 8km running, each 1km run immediately followed by a functional fitness station, then into the next 1km run and so on. Stations are 1000m ski erg. Sled push 50m sled pull 50m, 80m burpee broad jumps, row 1000m, farmers carry 200m, sandbag walking lunges 100m and 75 wall balls. The result qualified me for the Hyrox World Champs in Nice next year where I’ll have to perform in the Pro weights category (where everything gets much heavier!)
