New York Marathon and North London Mud

This week has an international flavour with Heathsiders in action in New York and Porto. Closer to home many more tackled the mud and rain in the Liddiard and Sunday League Cross Country.

New York Marathon, New York, 2.11.23

Conor Brown and Jamie Morris took on the NYC marathon on a just slightly too warm sunny Sunday morning. Conor was planning a fun, take it easy marathon just a few weeks after Berlin and an injury hit Autumn. Jamie was after a big PB after a solid training block. Both plans were knocked by the toughness of the course; Conor and Jamie have jointly declared NYC as "definitely the hardest major". The crowd support was amazing but cheers alone don't get you over NYC's many hills and bridges.

Jamie still took 3 minutes off his PB for 2:47:52, 414th, 21st V45, 24th Brit.

An undercooked Conor was still comfortably sub-3 with 2:54:25, 791st, 8th Irishman.

Parkrun

Only 62 Heathsiders ran in parkrun last Saturday compared to 104 last week maybe due to the cancellation of Ally Pally and Finsbury Park runs. Unusually there were no first place finishes.  Full results can be found here.
