Heathside trio win fruit at Hasty Hare

Highlight of the week was the ‘Hasty Hare’ Sri Chinmoy 5k at Battersea Park, which saw fruity prizes for 13-year-old Rose Garrett as the first under-16 girl, 61-year-old Michael Abrahams as the first V60 and Kelly Thorneycroft as the fifth woman. Meanwhile, 15-year-old Liam Garrett cantered in as the first of 32 Heathsider home and the second boy under 16.

Kirk-Smith wins bronze in England champs

Adam Kirk-Smith has developed a habit of smashing records, but last weekend he took it to a new level. First he came away with a brilliant bronze medal at the England Athletics Championships by coming 3rd out of 18 in the steeplechase in a PB and club record time of 9:09.49; then, two days later, he picked up another PB by winning the Self Transcendence 2mile at Battersea Park in a club record time of 9.21.
