UYDL in Mile End and the International Runners' Decathlon in Blankenburg
This week’s report features the UYDL in Mile End with many wins from Heathsides young athletes, as well as the International Runners' Decathlon in Blankenburg, with a medal-winning performance from Tony Killilea.

Simon Baker sent the following report from Mile End:
“At a blistering hot Mile End the UYDL team made up of U18s and U20s from both Highgate Harriers and London Heathside produced a selfless performance competing across multiple events to help secure victory beating Shaftesbury Barnet into 2nd place. To give context in addition to SBH, Havering and Herne Hill Harriers are also National Athletics League clubs. As 2 of the year groups involved are midway in their A-levels or GCSE’s the meeting offered a break from revising and another chance to record English Schools Qualifying Standard. The team won the U20M and U18W age groups. There were event wins for U20M Montana Dennis (110mH/400mH) Louie Brook (LJ, SP, DT) and Jordan Gboho (HJ). Asia Emanuel (100m), Magdeline Paitoo (400mH) in the U20W. Auguste Ramin (400mH), Rose Schofield (800m) and Amani Osman (HJ) were U18 event winners. Ivy Paitoo set a new LH U18W Shot Putt record.
The results means with one match remains (2nd August at Finsbury Park) the team lies in 2nd place with an outside chance of promotion to the Premiership.

International Runners' Decathlon, Blankenburg, 14-17th May 2026
Tony Killilea sent in the following report from Blankenburg:
“I went to the pleasant town of Blankenburg in Germany to compete in my fifth International Runners' Decathlon. This super-friendly competition comprises ten flat races on the track, ranging from 60m to 10,000m; perfect for the 'jack of all trades' athlete. The weather was changeable but the support was consistent throughout the four days of competition.
I finished 31st overall out of fifty four men, and third out of ten in the M60 category, so achieved my target of winning a medal. Next year's event will be held from 6th to 9th May in Hengelo in the Netherlands.”

Parkrun
