Middlesex County Champs, Buckingham and Oxfordshire County Champs, Copenhagen and Stratford Marathons, Matching 10K and Vets 5 miles

Middlesex Champs this weekend was the big club activity of the weekend, where we came third on the medal table with some impressive results and 4 club records set.

Middlesex County Champs, Lee Valley, 09.05.26

Simon Baker sent in this report: “The first championships of the season took place at Lee Valley organised by Middlesex AA.  The weather could not have been more different with Sun on Saturday and cold and overcast on Sunday.  However, the Club's athletes again excelled, finishing 3rd on the medal table of Clubs behind Shaftesbury Barnet and Thames Valley Harriers with 13 gold, 13 bronze and 7 bronzes. There were 4 club records set and  6 Championship Bests (boosted by adoption of the new age groups)

For the Senior Men Ifeoluwa Yusuff negotiated heats and semifinals to finish 4th in the 100m.  Wayne Morley took silver in the 800m and Stephen Booth 3rd in the Discus.  For the women Molly Harrison took gold in the javelin.  The U20 age group suffered with losing a year of athletes.  Montana Dennis took gold in the 110mH and Tobias Toth-Stevens who also took bronze in the 400m.  Asia Emanuel took 2nd in the 100m and won the 100mH in a CBP with Ely Angel Da Silva 2nd in the 100mH and 1st in the 400mH.

In the U18 Men Mikel Alexander set a new club record in the 200m with Ennio Kaloukian winning silver in the 3000m.  Lettice Gundry took the 800m title with Amy Kirk a bronze in the 1500m.  In the field Elkie Baker set a new Championship Best winning the Discus title.

Cosmo Miller won the U16 200m title with Dylan Dang 3rd in the 100m,  Charlie Nicolson took the 3000m title in a CBP and 2nd fastest ranked time as well as bronze in the 300m.  Filip Kounoupas Prastalo was 4th in the 800m and 2nd in the 1500m just ahead of Alex Kirk in 3rd.  Gabriel Edwards won a full set of medals winning the 100mH in a CBP, 2nd in the 400mH and third in the Long Jump.  Ziggi Ellis won silver in the Shot and Leonard Hewings gold in the Discus.  Matilda Barrand won a silver in the U16 girls 300mH.

In the U14 Boys Sarp Birsen who is ranked UK No2 won the high jump setting a club record and championship best as well as silver in the 100m. Olorunfemi Obada won silver in the 200m as did , Michael Schofield in the Javelin while Bruno Fansa won the long jump.  In the girls Abena Boyer won silver in the 75mH.

A late result from April, Ben Montilla sent in this report: “A PB of 4:06:32 in the Stratford upon Avon Shakespeare RunThrough Marathon on a good - mainly flat - countryside course of a few inclines and a couple of long gravel path sections, in similar London Marathon sun. A small, model traffic, cycling track - similar to Lordship Rec. of bygone years with working compact modern traffic lights - lines the course before the finishing straight! The winner was a 2:30 time.”
