Met League Stevenage

Stevenage saw yet another monster turnout with again over 100 Heathside vests brightening  up the forest free course.

Young athletes
U13 girls and U13 boys both got 4th team –  excellent results and evidence of what can be achieved when they all turn up in the rain and run their best. This bodes well for Middlesex medals?

With some great individual performances from Ruairi McGonagle (3rd U13), Liam Garret (2nd U17), Rose Garret (4th U13), Hattie Munday (9th U11) with some great top 20 placings (Oliver, Jake, Mathilda, Nell).

Seniors
While the ladies numbers were up from Claybury there were some key names missing from the top end of the field, however this did not stop them taking join first with Highgate, demonstrating the strength and depth of our ladies this season.

The A team was lead by Kelly Thorneycroft with a cracking run followed closely by Sue Rust even with a suspected stress fracture followed by Dorcas Wright, Ula Cartwright-Finch, Sarah Swinhoe and Celine Murray. Our B and C teams came 8th and 4th in their respective divisions with fantastic runs by all.

The men’s race was lead out by the ever impressive Adam Kirk-Smith who could not help but better his 3rd place finish at Claybury but coming 2nd place. Special mention to Jack Farley a new speedy addition to the A team finishing in 29:12.

• Our women’s A retain first place in the league by a single point between them and Highgate.
• Our women’s B team maintained their 8th place position division one.
• Our women’s C team shot up the division two table from 8th to 4th!
• Our men’s A team crept up from 5th to 4th in division one.
• Our men’s B team are still in last position in division one, the fight is on to stave off relegation.
• Our men’s C team maintained their 7th place position in division two.
• Meanwhile on the vets front all our teams are storming up the field apart from our men’s B team who maintained their position.
