As usual there was a bumper turnout at the London Marathon, with 63 recorded club finishers ; among many fine efforts especially given the unfavourably warm conditions, in particular of note a Top 50 place for Rebecca Piggott and Top 100 for Sam Macaulay and Kim Baglietto, while Tom Aldred, Matt Beard, Steve Pennington and Sarah Swinhoe all placed high in the Vet categories

European Duathlon Championships - Rumia, Poland 26-27 Apr
From multisport corner, Sandra reports on the European Duathlon Championships, where both Heathside participants picked up Bronze medals …
“ Mark Jefford and I were participating in the European Duathlon Championships in Rumia, Poland.
With single digit temperatures, unlike the London Marathoners our concern wasn't the heat, it was how to stay warm, but with clear sunny skies and the northerly wind dropping our fears were unfounded and race conditions were near perfect in the sun. The run course was multiple laps in the city and with a large British team, there was plenty of support out on the course. The bike course was a fast and flat out and back route - great for both the draft-legal Sprint race and the no drafting Standard Distance race.
Mark Jefford competed in the Sprint Distance (5km run / 20km bike / 2.5km run) on Saturday and finished 3rd in the Open 60-64 Age Group.
The Standard Distance (10km run / 40km bike / 5km run) took place on Sunday. I also finished 3rd, in the Female 55-59 Age Group in this event. “
Standard Distance ( V55 Female )
3 Sandra Buckton 2hr 25m 11s ( Run 44.47, Bike 75.08, Run 23.37 )
Sprint ( V60 Open )
3 Mark Jefford 1hr 3m 44s ( Run 19.28, Bike 32.51, Run 9.59 )
Included are a couple of photos of both collecting their Bronze medals.
