It was a busy weekend for racing, with the Berlin Marathon finally taking place. There were some terrific times there as well as in the Hackney and Ealing Half marathons, and the Triffic Trail 10k and the NW London XC YAL.

This week saw two events of mass club participation, namely the Crouch End 10K followed in midweek by part 2 of the Club’s Track & Field Championships.The latter saw Beth Hawling break the longstanding Club Women’s 5000m record. Squeezed in was representation at the Chingford League cross country, and age group success at the Hampton Palace half marathon

We present a better-late-than never monster race report from the past week or so featuring Heathside’s victory in the Southern Athletics League champs at Lee Valley, some excellent showings in the Inter-County U15/20 champs in Oxford, the Middlesex Road Relays in Hayes, the Watford Open, the Great North Run, two marathons, a half, several shorter road and track races and a duathlon.

Another bumper report with track, road racing and duathalons. Tom Aldred setting a marker for the winter finishing 4th in the Paddock Wood Half Marathon. The Club held a successful Club Championship and the Vets competed at Lee Valley. A number of Heathsiders also competed in a Dualthalon at Hampstead Heath .

This week’s highlights include outstanding performances at the Middlesex Track and Field Championship, where Cian O’Donnell scored double gold and Joel Hawes retained his county discus title, and there were wins for Carlos Mingoes, James Hamblin, Brogan Wallace and Lily Woolcock. The club hosted the 3rd Fixture of the North East London Southern Athletics League competition at a thudding Finsbury Park, and once again finished top team in their group. Elsewhere there were a scattering of evnts which included a win for Evangelista Divetain at Regents Park, a fast 10K from Tom Hollis at Battersea, and a ‘Splash and Dash’ event at London Royal Docks

Heathside’s two outstanding performances of the week came from U15 sprint and hurdles star Imani Quamina, who qualified to compete in the England U15/U17 championships in Manchester at the weekend. Imani, who is the London 75m hurdles schools’ champion in her age group, ran this event only three-quarters of an hour after running in the 200. Her time of 12.21 gave her fifth place in her heat. In the 200 she came sixth in her heat in a nifty 27.67.
