Celine Bradley shatters Dingle marathon record

There was plenty of Heathside action on the track, roads and trails over the past week. Top billing this time is shared by our U20 star Seyfu Jamaal who ran a fine 14:59 PB at the Highgate Harriers Autumn Open on Hampstead Heath on Wednesday evening, and Celine Bradley, who not only won the very hilly Dingle Marathon in Ireland on Sunday 8th, but shattered the record by 12 minutes and came third overall in an astonishing time for that course of 2:53:35.

Perhaps the outstanding results were Thomas Archer’s 8:38 in the 3000, a new club U17 record, and Rosa Serafini’s 4:29 1500, also a club record, both at the Watford Graded Open. Others included Seyfu Jamaal’s 31:04 PB in the Asics London 10k, Sion Lewis’s 16:11 5000m PB in Milton Keynes, Izaiah Turner’s 34.87 javelin PB in Allianz Park and Tynan Parkers U13 800 m 2:24 PB in Kingston.

Heathside Youngsters Place High in the MYAL

Another afternoon of fantastic athletics rounded off the MYAL league on Sunday with a great turnout of Juniors.  The format of the last session was changed to feature just relays on the track.  A great opportunity for more athletes to take part but it had proven a massive organisational challenge to Team Managers Mary, Ruth and Rachel as the meeting also comes at the beginning of the school holidays.

Eiger Warriors do us Proud!

Lenny, one of our resident ultra running experts, led a team of 6 Heathsiders out to Switzerland to take part in this incredible, beautiful, scenic, gruelling “race” (more like Epic Struggle!) and they all performed brilliantly with Lenny opting for the extreme 101K distance whilst the others were slightly more sensible taking on the 51K distance. This terrain is not for the faint hearted when it comes to navigating across it, however the views will take your breath away.
