Lots of prizes for Heathsiders at the weekend: Adrian Essex (V65) and Ivan Ross (V40) both won silver medals in the British Masters’ Championships; Amy Cook was the first woman in the Regent’s Park 10k, while Pete Crockford, Sara Black and Sue Eeedle won age group prizes; Rebecca Bunting came second in the Worthing 10k, beating her PB by more than a minute, and Kelly Thorneycroft came second in her 3,000m UK Women’s League race.

With Croydon very near the top of the league table in 2017 (just a single point off promotion), which included a victory over Heathside on neutral ground in Havering, we were a little apprehensive over taking on a strong team in their backyard.
Read MoreWith the SAL report to come later, the main event of this report was undoubtedly our local race, the Crouch End 10K. By all accounts it was a great success, the races went smoothly and the event was well marshalled with a large number of Heathsiders contributing to the volunteering effort.

Read MoreNow the Spring fascination with 26.2 miles is over for another year, Heathsiders were busy making tracks at a variety of other distances during the past week, from the regular 10ks around the capital to a 100 mile race out to Oxford and the not often repeated 7.76 miles round a lake in the Peak District.

Tom Aldred took 20th place out of more than 40,000 competitors in a time of 2:29:18 and Rebecca Bunting was the 21st woman in 2:58:12 – leading our women’s team to first place (unconfirmed).
