Kirk-Smith takes bronze in Belfast

A bitty report this week. Highlights include Adam Kirk-Smith’s bronze medal in the Belfast Half (in a huge PB time of 69.13), Rebecca Bunting winning the off-road Royston Runners half, Heathside’s men’s fourth place in the Middlesex Road Relays and Gaby Johnson and Ciara Owens competing in the ITU World Triathlon Championships in Mexico.

Youth success at Middlesex Relays; Great North Run; Highgate Open Meeting

While it wasn't a massively busy week by the Heathside often busy and far flung standards, there was a full bingo card of running events over the past few days which included success for the youngsters at the Middlesex Road Relays to one of Europe's biggest half marathons, a track meet, a trail race, a triathlon and parkrunning. LICC, triathlon champs, and a bluffers guide to multievents

We had a great track and field turnout at the final London Inter Club Challenge (LICC) fixture at Hendon, where there were some outstanding performances. Of particular note were Jimmy T and Rich Macaulay both coming third in high-class 100 and 800 metre fields respectively, with Rich inside two minutes again, and Charles Hardy leading home the 1500m race by some considerable distance.

Southern Athletics League #5, Colchester

The track and field season is finally over. This report focuses on our overall track and field performance throughout the summer, rather than individual results from the final SAL match (which was windy and, overall, not really a day for PBs – unless your name is Gokce Baydar, in which case you smash the women’s V35 pole vault club record with a whopping 2.20 m and the triple jump club record with a leap of 8.03 m).

The Happy Wanderers…

Heathside’s Parkrun Tourism Dept. visited runs at Barnsley, Warrington, Walsall, Market Harborough, Holkham, Glasgow and Edinburgh; Olivier Le Polain kept up his unbeaten record at Aldenham recording his 5th 1st placing in a time of 16:45.
