Bit of a bumper report this week, partly due to a communications breakdown at Race Report HQ, so without further ado here’s a recap on two loads of hot mile action, adult and youth club records, some incredibly quick road racing PBs and a triumph at the Hillingdon duathlon:
Read MoreFor once no thunderstorms threatened the midsummer 5K handicap race around Highgate Wood. An impressive turnout of 87 runners completed the course in temperatures hovering around the 30°C mark. Despite the heat there were outstanding performances and PBs all round. Runners, marshals and general hangers-on fairly swamped the Wrestlers pub in Highgate later for the prize-giving and results.
Read MoreIt was a great weekend for Heathside in the Southern Athletics League, with victory in Luton leaving the club in with a shout of a second successive promotion. There was plenty going on elsewhere though, with intercounties track and field, another club record for AKS and the final fixture of the Vets League in Hemel Hempstead.
Read MoreHeathside’s track and field athletes travelled to Luton knowing that their fixture against Luton, Cambridge and Stevenage was going to be challenging as well as crucial, with each of those teams lying close to us in the league table.

Starting at 8pm, this was an 8-lap course round The Bridge Lakes of Dartford, with a special “I Beat the Midnight Marathon” tee for those finishing before midnight, an all-night tea wagon and no cut-off time (the last finisher came in in just under 6 hours).

The highlights include Adam Kirk-Smith's run in Fast Friday, where he set the track record, Satu Hietanen’s record-breaking performance in Hyde Park and Jo Irwin’s dramatic come-back in the Herculean triathlon.
Read MoreAdam won gold for the steeplechase the Northern Ireland Championships with another fantastic run. His time was particularly impressive given a solo run (he won by a minute) in torrential rain.
Read MoreSaturday saw our home SAL match at Lee Valley. The weather may have been a bit overcast but our spirits were high.
Read MoreTwo to report from here. First up on Monday 6th, Richard Macauley was the sole person to sport Heathside colours down at Battersea but he more than made up for that by putting in a great run and finishing 4th with a PB time of 16:21.
Read MoreAnother week, another record for our Adam Kirk-Smith. He made a guest appearance in the 3000m steeplechase at the British Athletics League Division 1 match at the Linford Christie Stadium and took second place in a time of 9:19.13 (14 seconds speedier than his previous club record, set a fortnight earlier). What next Adam? Watch this space….
