Results of the 2015 Club Championships.
Read MoreThe third SAL of the season occupied a largish proportion of the club on Saturday, with all the excitements, triumphs and disasters fully reported on. There were also plenty of other activies partaken of over this weekend (and a few from last weekend) with the usual wide range of distances and disciplines including a far flung half marathon, a pentathlon, various 10ks, a VERY long cycle ride, orienteering, two aquathons and two triathlons.(UPDATED)
Read MoreIn all three leagues we have now competed in two matches. The Vets first season is providing steady mid-table results, but an extra chance for the mature athlete to score points in the individual standings. In the YDL, turnout this year has been extraordinary and team results good. The SAL has seen the most remarkable turn around. Not only has the team gone to the top of the table, but for the first time in Heathside history the ladies have outscored the gents.
Read MoreLondon was deserted (by Heathsiders that is) as members took part in events all over the Country, as well as Ireland (a Parkrun) and France (a cycling event). There was a strong club contingent in the St Alban’s Half, Adam Kirk-Smith stormed the City of London Mile in 4½ minutes (and that after a 3rd place the previous day in the SEAA 5000m final), Andy Barnes was cheated out of a probable top 5 finish in the Rock’n’Roll Liverpool Marathon by a treacherous attack of cramps, and Sarah Swinhoe marked a return to form, following a lengthy run of injuries, with a 3rd Female placing in the Southend Half. David Hellard and Rebecca Bunting also achieved 1st places in their Parkruns. Congratulations to all who took part in events, including the SEAA Championships in Lee Valley.
Read MoreTen Heathsiders travelled to the outskirts of London on Sunday to run in the Ickenham 5 mile race, the latest installment in Heathside’s road race championship. It’s reputedly fast and flat, despite the the occasional sharp corner, but the warm conditions on Sunday may not have helped everyone.
Read MoreCongrats this week to everyone who turned out to contribute to an overall Heathside victory in the second match of the SAL. Special mention too to Mike Stocks who completed Comrades in a fantastic time of just a shade over 7 hours, and Phoebe, Liam and Ruari for some excellent performances in the Youth Development League.
Read MoreThis Bank Holiday week-end was dominated by wins and PBs. We have some belated results from the famous night of the 10,000 PBs last week, where Tom Aldred and Adam Kirk-Smith ran fabulous times, with Tom’s time being the best that that a Heathsider has achieved for many years. The highlight was the Middlesex Athletics Championship last week-end, where Heathsiders came away with 12 medals. There were many outstanding perfomances and PBs, notably from Rachel Seckl, Henry Damon, Adam Kirk-Smith, Jacob Philips, Darnell Plummer. Heathsiders also excelled in the Herts triathlon and achieved PBs in various other road runs.
Read MoreDoo doo doo doo doo dooooo do...apologies both for this week’s report being somewhat slower to arrive than Dirty Den's comeback from the dead and also for the excruciating CrouchEnders ‘gags’, partly inspired by the fact that Minty from Phil's garage started the week’s big event, the Hornsey/North London YMCA 10k. There was no suspense or cliffhangers in sight as the stellar cast of Team Heathside cleaned up more thoroughly than Dot Cotton’s launderette, with Rebecca Piggott crowned Queen (Vic) of the women’s event (more to come on the ladies’ fantastic performance later) while Heathside picked up both the men’s and women’s team prizes and young Liam Garrett strode home to win the u-16s race in the junior events.
Read MoreThis has been a good season so far for Heathside Track and Field and another good peformance from the Vets on Monday 18th May at Stevenage brought another solid mid-table result, and a cluster of PBs, SBs and club records. More details below.
