Inter Borough

It was the highest turn out ever at London Heathside’s Finsbury Park track for the North London Inter Borough Championships, taking everyone by surprise, especially organizers Russell, Ruth and Rachel who were responsible for organizing the event on Sunday 1st March 2015. A total of 250 juniors turned up to race, from the under 7s up to the under 17s, representing four North London boroughs which included Camden, Hackney, Barnet and Haringey. London Heathside’s Juniors were out in force.

Royston and the roads

Good turnout at the Sunday league cross country in Royston this week. Other Heathsiders did road races from 5 miles in Vicky Park up to 20 miles in Bramley. It looks like we had Heathsiders too in the South of England Masters' Championships inc British Masters Pentathlon at Lee Valley, but results don't seem to be out for that yet - watch this space.

Heathside women seventh in Southerns

Sparse picking this week, but good stuff nevertheless. Aside from a 10k PB from Emerson Paul and some fine Parkrun showings, lit was all about the South of England Cross Country championships at lovely Stanmer Park, near Brighton, where 58 of us braved the hills, appreciated the firm ground and relished the views: 15k for the men; 8 for the women (odd, that, but don’t get me started…)

Fred Hughes 10, Chingford League and Hell Down South

After many weekends of large and frenetic cross country events, this past week and weekend were extremely quiet, although definitely not mud free. There were small but impressive turnouts at two cross country events - the Chingford League on Saturday, and the Sir Sefton Brancker Trophy last Thursday and at a  trail run in Hampshire, meaning the biggest turnout by far was at the Fred Hughes 10 in St Albans on Sunday, the first of the Club championship road races.
