Miller, Potter, Wastell race for Britain

There were several impressive performances in the World Triathlon championships, but Ruth Miller’s 15th place in her age group stood out (that’s 15th in the whole wide world), and there were also strong showings from Martin Potter and Jackie Wastell in the worlds, and from Rob O’Grady and Clare Miller in the London Duathlon. In all, 78 of our members competed last week – triathlon, duathlon, half marathons, cross-country, track and field, fell runs and parkruns.

Bank holiday weekend: Canterbury Half, Thames Turbo Sprint triathlon and Last Friday of the Month 5k and the LICC

The bank holiday weekend was pretty quiet race-wise, but I think it was quality over quantity in this case, with first places achieved in the The Last Friday of the Month 5k in Hyde Park, and two Parkruns, and in numerous races in the LICC, and some very impressive run/cycle/swim efforts in the Thames Turbo Series sprint triathlon, an excellent 3k swim and a satisfied customer in the Canterbury Half.

Miller wins World Duathlon Championships

It’s not every week that we get to lead our report with an announcement that we have produced a world champion, but that’s exactly what happened in Ottawa, Canada when our very own Clare Miller won the world age group gold medal in the World Duathlon Championships. Well, we didn’t exactly produce Clare, but she is one of us and she did brilliantly. And when we say ‘age group gold medal’ we’re talking the 25 to 29-year-olds. Yeah, Clare is the fastest under-30 duathlete in the whole wide world.

Zurich and Milton Keynes Triathlons, LICC, Watford Graded Open, Harlow and New Forest 10 and much much more

There was a clutch of triathlons (the collective term, or perhaps that should be a triumph of triathlons) this weekend (well Milton Keynes and Zurich),  some impressive performances on the track and various road races ranging from 5ks to half marathons which kept many Heathsiders busy in the past week. There were also some cycling sportives to add to the mix.
