With more and more events to choose from we are seeing Heathsiders running these 5k timed runs all over the country every Saturday morning. And in an effort to stay on top of these performances we are experimenting with bringing you a dedicated parkrun wrap-up each week.
Read MoreNine Heathsiders got their 2012 racing season off to a swift start by taking part in the Serpentine New Year’s Day 10k, with Gavin in particular having a great run, while our U15 boys and U17 girls brought home two team medals from the Middlesex cross-country champs on Saturday.
Read MoreThe most encouraging bit of good news: 39 senior men turned up for the race! Last year we had 37 at the most (and only 13 at this fixture). Certainly a lot of people came through when it counted and took time off of their too short weekends (at least that's how they feel to me) to come out and spend the afternoon on a field running up and down hills. I hope everyone has as much fun as I did. I also cannot discount the efforts made by the senior women, 12 of whom showed up, matching our highest turnout of last year. It was almost a double victory, with Jo (pictured on the home page) in a battle for 1st place throughout until finally being shaken off in the last mile, while Anna (above, left) completed the full set of medals by coming home in clear 3rd place. There were great runs too for the other team members, with Angela (above, right) making it difficult to believe that she really hates Cross Country and Katie, running over a distance way beyond her preferred 800 Metres, putting her foot down in the last mile to take a few extra places. Below the scoring 4 Felicity in particular had an excellent race, the extra distance clearly suiting her, and had 'B' teams been allowed to count ours would have finished 5th.
