SEAA relays, Vets league, Berlin marathon and a return to cross-country
This week’s report features a variety of races, including the SEAA Road relays, the southern vets league, Berlin marathon and the first Sunday league cross-country race.
SEAA Road Relays, Aldershot 20.9.25
Simon Baker sent in the following report from Aldershot:
Two Young Athlete teams entered the South of England relays at the weekend. The U17 Men’s team finished a solid 37th place of 80 teams with Dylan Mills our fastest runner over the 4.2km leg. The highlight however were our U15 Boys team who secured a fantastic 3rd Place. Alex Kirk had given the team a great start in 9th place. Despite Rory Willis’ valiant efforts on the 2nd leg the team had slipped to 22rd however a storming final leg of 8.58.8 over the 3km course by Charlie Nicolson (the fastest on the day) saw the team leap up the standings and only 2s off a silver medal. Well done to all the lads for taking part and team manager David Kirk.

Southern Vets league, Oxford, 20th September 2025
Adrian Essex posted the following report from Oxford:
“A splendid day out in Oxford exemplified by team spirit and determination.
The final result had us 6th out of 7 but as far as I could tell everyone enjoyed themselves.
We were lucky to have Ivor Wiggett and Simon Baker with us as officials. Both provide an air of calm authority but mainly sympathy for the athlete.
For what may be the first time ever we had a full quota of walkers, in Ben, Gavin and Hugo.
And a full quota of pole vaulters too, with Stephen hopping back and forth to the 100 metres, and Ivan just hopping on a sore ankle to a 3rd place finish.
More technique on show in the triple jump from Paul and me, and high jumps from Andrew and Mark.
Robin had a fine day in all the throws, backed up in other age groups by Charlie, Stephen and Ivan.
And there were running races.
The 4 x 100 team, Kurt, Michael, Charlie and Marc, were baulked at the last by the disqualified TVH team who just stood there in the way.
The 4 x 400 team , Ben, Andrew, Richard and Charlie, put in a good shift.
In the individual events the outstanding result was Richard and Wayne 1st and 2nd overall and both 1st in their respective strings in the 1500.
Dulce took care of the complex numbering system, and our driver, Harry, was patient and courteous
Apologies if I have missed anyone or anything significant.”
