Dawn to Dusk Ultra, Redbridge, 12.12.21

Filipe Cardoso reports on this Ultra Marathon which he came 4th:-

"On Sunday, I took part in the Dawn to Dusk Ultra in Redbridge, North East London to fund raise for Age UK. It was organised by the Sikhs in City Running Club, which counts among its founding members, Faujah Singh, the oldest marathoner in the world.

The race consisted of running 2km laps during 8 hours. There were also a 10km, a 22km and a marathon option. The weather was pleasantly mild for this time of the year. The course is undulating and you never had to run more than 1km to get some cheers.

Each time you passed the start, you could see on a giant screen how well you were doing. The minimum distance to earn the ultra medal was 50km and that is where most runners stopped. This made it quite motivating to see your name climb up the ranking in the later stages, even though it did not seem you were overtaking anyone. At the end, besides the standard medal and T-Shirt, you were given amazing hot food (chick pea curry and samosas).

Result

1st J Rodriges (East London Runners) 7:12.24

4th Filipe Cardoso 7:57.18 36 laps 72.5km Average 6.35 min per km

Parkrun

63 Heathsiders ran in parkruns at the weekend.  Congratulations for first place finishes go to Janak Subberwal (Ally Pally), Rebecca Piggott (Ally Pally) and Julia Bijl (Burgess).  Full results can be found here.
