Seniors 2nd and 3rd in Met League, Sunday League and Southern Indoor AG Championships
This week’s report includes Sunday and Met League action as well as indoor Track and Field from Lee Valley. 2 Heathsiders recorded top 3 finishes in the MetLeague with Amy Kirk 2nd (JW) and Sam Macaulay 3rd (SM). The Junior Women won their race with the Senior Women 2nd and Senior Men 3rd.
MetLeague 3#, Welwyn 10.1.26
After a break over Christmas returned with Met League cross country at a wet and cold Welwyn Garden City. With no Middlesex XC the previous week a good turnout of Heathsiders looked fresh and ready for the challenge.
The Junior races started the days proceedings with the Junior Women the best performance winning their first race of the season with Amy Kirk in 2nd place and Rose Schofield, Lila Blustin and Lettice Gundry all in the top 11. Elsehere both U11 and U13 Girls were in 5th place as were a very young Junior Boys Team led home by Charlie Nicolson in 4th place.
The Senior Women recorded a great 2nd place behind last years champions VPH&TH who are now guaranteed to retain the League title. Rebecca Piggott led the way with a 4th place finish, Josie Hinton in 16th was the first Veteran home. Sam Macaulay ran a superb race to finish in 3rd place 20s behind the winner and ensuring the team finished in 3rd place.
The season reaches it’s climax at Trent Park on 7th February which the club will be hosting.
