County Schools championships and the Heathside handicap
This week’s report includes the county schools handicap and the annual Heathside handicap.
Simon sent the following report from Middlesex:
Last weekend saw the County Schools Championships with athletes competing at Middlesex, London or Essex respective Championships. The Young Athletes recorded 6 golds, 2 silver and 4 bronze medals.
The London Championships saw Malakai (IB 100mH), Mikel Alexander (IB 200m) take their respective titles, while Charlie Nicolson (JB 1500m), Myla Miller (JG 100m) and Elkie Baker (IG Discus) all won gold medals, Elkie setting a new Championship record and now has both the Junior and Inter Girl Championship Best. Cosmo Miller took gold in the JB 300m while Gabriel Edwards was 3rd in the JB 80mH with a National Standard of 11.67s.
The Young Athletes now await selection for English Schools with some getting another chance to make the qualifying standard at the Inter-Schools Meeting on Saturday.

University of Birmingham Track & Field Festival, 14th June
Last Tuesday saw the annual Heathside handicap in Highgate Woods in which 68 Hethsiders competed. Congratulations go to Isaac Edwards and Heaster Hill for first place finishes, as well as others who received prizes. Thanks go to Matthew Cockerill for his excellent organistion and to the many Heathside volunteers who made the event happen.
