Race Location

Race Headquarters: Hillingdon Athletics Stadium, Gatting Way, Uxbridge UB8 1ES. Nearest station is Uxbridge Underground Station (Metropolitan & Piccadilly Lines)

The race start is just under a mile walk from Uxbridge Underground Station (directions). There is a 2 minute walk from race HQ to the start (see the course map. Look for the Heathside club flags, this is where you can get your race number and leave your kit etc. If you are planning to arrive already in your race kit, then head straight over to the start.

What Will I need?

  • CLUB VEST/T-SHIRT/COLOURS – If you are a paid-up Heathside member, you can simply turn up and run. You MUST wear club kit.

  • RACE NUMBER – If you ran at the Claybury or Welwyn Met League fixtures (from this year!) then you can use your old number, if not collect your number from your club captains at least 30 mins before the start of your race. You will need to reuse this number for the rest of the series so DON’T THROW IT AWAY.

  • APPROPRIATE FOOTWEAR – 15mm spike length recommended, it is always recommended to come with alternative spike lengths just in case.

  • A THOROUGH WARM UP – Get to the course at least 40 minutes before the start of your race this will give you plenty of time to get your number from your captain, get your warm up done while still allowing plenty of time to get to the start. Why bother wasting energy getting stressed by arriving with 10 mins to go and possibly missing the start! Example warm up – 10 or 15 min jog with a gentle progression in the final few mins. Do a few drills (if you know them) and finish with 4-6 x 10s strides in your spikes/race shoes

  • GOOD BEHAVIOUR

    • you can’t run with music / phones

    • don’t cut, block or trip people up

    • don’t be scared of the mud

    • focus on racing other clubs not your own team mates

    • most importantly – give it your best effort and ENJOY IT

The Course

Parkland setting, undulating course, with one steep climb per large lap, on grass and woodland paths. Option of small river crossing if conditions on the day allow.

The MetLeague have decided the U11's and U13's will not be negotiating the River Crossing this year. A decision will taken on the day whether the Junior and Senior Races will run through the River.

What Do I do After?

  • RACE NUMBER – keep this after you have run and don’t throw it away

  • SHOWER – not compulsory, mud can be left on as war paint if desired

  • PUB! – There will be a social in the evening at the The Faltering Fullback, Finsbury Park, N4 3HB from 8:00pm
