Inaugural St Albans Sunday League fixture light on the flat sections

Sunday League 3: St Albans XC, 9 December

11 Heathsiders ran the first Sunday League to be held at St Albans.

The next Sunday League race is at Royston on 13th Jan – starting 10.30am.  More details to follow.
13/12/2012: The good news was that it was a sunny day, reasonably mild (by comparison with later) if a little windy.  The bad news was that the course was a bit tougher than I had expected; most of the flat section from the XC relays earlier in the year had been omitted!!  And we ran up and down the same hill twice on each lap (3 laps).  And it was very slippery around the wood sections, so that choosing studs rather than spikes was a mistake.  At one stage we ran past various football pitches with matches in progress – the players must have been rather amused at watching some 300 odd of us come round three times.

Marco was the first Heathsider home.  We had a very depleted ladies turn out – many thanks to Barbara and Laura for running.  It would be good to have a few more women coming.  And finally Eddie overslept, missed his lift but still made it (rather late) to the start!!
