Our Future!

London Heathside has a thriving Young Athletes section that encourages participation, fun and allows progression into competitive athletics. For example, our young athletes regularly compete in local track and field and cross-country leagues, as well as school championships and the London Mini Marathon.

New members are encouraged to come along to see what we do, meet the coaches and try it out for a couple of weeks before joining formally.

Parent helpers for the young athletes sessions are always welcome.

Cost: Membership £60 PA or £20 per term.  Non-members and ‘Introduction to Athletics’ (Primary School)   £3 per session.

To join and pay online, visit our membership page.

London Heathside has a number of well qualified and experienced coaches who encourage participation and enjoyment in a range of athletic activities, and also provide specialist support for those looking to develop further.

All our coaches are DBS checked and sign up to our coaches' code of conduct.

All Heathside young athletes get a chance to compete in a number of different competitions. However, this is not compulsory and some prefer initially to just participate in the training.

Some of the main competitions we enter:

  • Middlesex Young Athletes Track and Field League (new 2017)

  • North-West London Young Athletes Cross-Country League

  • Metropolitan Cross County League

  • Middlesex County Championships

  • South of England and National Championships

  • The Jack Petchey Award Scheme: About | London Heathside Jack Petchey Awards

The club takes the welfare of our young athletes very seriously and has a dedicated welfare officer, Ruth Miller. We see welfare as a joint responsibility between parents, coaches and the young athletes themselves.

As an England Athletics Accredited Club (UK Club mark) our welfare policies and procedures are in line with the guidelines set by UKA and England Athletics and can be viewed by clicking on the links below.

If you have any concerns or would like to discuss any issues with Ruth, please get in touch on or phone confidentially on 0770 9622140.

Information for Schools

London Heathside is keen to establish links with north London schools to enable their enthusiastic athletes to gain training support all year round.

Any school with athletes interested in participating more fully in organised athletics is encouraged to:

  • send individual athletes along to our training sessions

  • contact us if there are larger groups of athletes interested in training, or to find out more about what we do.
