Saturday saw the first cross-country race of 2018, with 75 Heathsiders running in the Middlesex cross-country championships in Perivale.
Particularly impressive performances among the youngsters include those of Hattie Munday (3rd, U11), Rose Garrett (3rd, U13 girls), Spike Blake (4th, U13 boys). In the U17 men. Jem O’Flaherty had a stunning run to come first with Liam Garrett coming second 25 seconds later. Congratulations are due to the U15 girls whose strong team finished 2nd overall, whilst the U13 boys went one step further to come 1st team.
In the seniors, Heathside ladies had another fantastic day, coming first team, led by Emma Watson (3rd), shortly followed by Rebecca Piggott (5th), Kelly Thorneycroft (12th), Josie Hinton(13th) and the remaining 16 Heathside ladies.
Heathside men had a strong turn-out with 31 runners. It was a good day for them over the 10km course, coming 2nd overall, ably led by Andrew Brooker (13th), followed by Kimon Doulis (23rd), Charles Hardy (24th), Martin Potter (26th) and the remaining men.
Overall, it was a great start to the year and we look forward to further great performances in the rest of the season.
