Met League #1: Claybury
Met League 2018/19 #1: Heathside make strong start at Claybury

The cross country season is now fully upon us! Ladies' captain Sue Rust gives her round-up of the first Met League fixture of the season as Heathside get off to a highly promising start at a scorchio Claybury last weekend. Also, Simon Baker reports on how the Club's youngsters got on. 

Aldred and Jamaal win sub-70 half-marathon medals

Several Heathsiders won medals at the weekend. 39-year-old Tom Aldred led a field of nearly 1,000 to win the hilly Basingstoke Half with plenty to spare, while in Oxford 17-year-old Seyfu Jamaal was second in a field of nearly 12,000 in the Oxford Half – both well inside the 70-minute mark. Another winner was Nell Swinhoe who took first place in the Westminster Schools U15 4k championships. Others included Benjy Bediako and Lucy Corkin who won among the U13s in the Quadkids four-event competition at our track on Sunday. Meanwhile we’ve learnt that Mike Stocks triumph in the Self-Transcendence 24-hour race was the 10th fastest in the world this year, and the second fasted in the UK.

Excelling at Cross Country; Middlesex 10 K and Ealing Half

7.10.18 for report of week of 24/9/18:
Our junior Heathsiders have excelled this week with the North West London Young Athletics League and Haringey Schools Cross Country. There are some notable performances reported by Simon Baker below.

The adults also put up good performances with a clear sweep at Middlesex 10K with the women winning overall, with Men- Masters M50 also coming first and the Women Masters coming in 2nd.

World Masters Champs in Málaga – It’s a wrap

28.09.18 Seven Heathsiders ventured out to Málaga in southern Spain in early September for the World Masters Championships, bringing back three medals plus pride, satisfaction, and memories of a great experience.
