New indoor club records and PBs in St Albans

[24/01/19] It was relatively quiet week.  Although there are only 3 events to report on, the quality made up for it, with Rosa Serafini setting a new club record at the indoor 800m, numerous PBs in the first race of the club road race series at St Albans, and a great run in the Victoria Park 10k by Jessica Vinluan.

Heathside races into the New Year

The New Year’s Eve revelries seemed to have little impact on the obsessive mania of Heathsiders, not just for running, but for competing too. Aside from the 84 of us who took part in Parkruns, eleven more raced the Serpentine New Year 10k and five took part in the Lee Valley New Year Open - 100 in all. Not bad for a Tuesday morning.

Rebecca Piggott was the second woman at the Serpentine and her bloke Kimon Doulis was the first Heathsider in 13th place in a new PB time. Gregory Berrisford-Sweet (U13) was second in the 3k event, sharing the same time as Benjy Bediako (U11). Gregory’s dad, Alex Sweet, was the second Heathsider in the 10k event, also in a PB time.

At the Lee Valley Open Helene Mary Kehoe broke her own V45 club shotput record and there were also PBs for Andrew Brooker and Pete Crockford in the 800m.
