We Need You!
London Heathside has a very active volunteering section and is always in need of volunteers to help run the Club and its own events, as well as events run by external agencies (eg. Virgin London Marathon, Cancer Research UK, YMCA, Southern Counties
Cross Country).

There are many ways in which you can join the many members who contribute to the success of the Club, whether you can spare some time
on a weekly basis, a few hours each month, or occasionally throughout
the year. No experience is necessary (though for some, eg. coaching,
training is needed). London Heathside is keen to assist the development
of its volunteers and supports members who wish to gain qualifications in coaching, officiating and first aid to use for the benefit of London Heathside's many activities.

Any Club member (or their parents) would be more than welcome to
help with one or more of the following:
  • Helping or officiating at track meetings
(both those we host and those we compete in)
  • Marshalling and other tasks at our road and cross-country races
  • Managing teams (cross-country or track & field)
    – *experience and training required*
  • Coaching track and field or leading road running sessions
    – *training required*
  • Organising races
  • Publicising the Club
  • Fundraising
  • Committee positions leading, managing and supporting club activities
  • Social events organising
  • Specialist support e.g. design, IT, legal expertise
  • Maintaining this website!
It is well recognised that volunteers are the lifeblood of every sports club and London Heathside is no exception. We value those who give up their precious time to help out. We are well aware of the hours of time and energy dedicated to helping and working in a variety of ways to ensure the success of events. Without volunteers, most sports clubs and associations would cease to exist.

Volunteering has many benefits both on a personal level and at a
Club level
. Many members who do volunteer gain something out of the experience. For example, from a personal perspective there is the opportunity to meet new people and have the opportunity to learn
new skills
. Many people volunteer for the chance to feel useful and valued as well as giving something back to the sporting community and the Club.
