Running in Highgate Woods...
Our road-running training offers something suitable for all abilities, with
runners dividing up into groups of similar standard.
Venue by venue, the type of training we do is:
Harringay Club.
There is usually a choice of runs ranging from six to ten miles. The shorter
runs usually include a couple of stops for regrouping, particularly for
newcomers unfamiliar with the routes. In the summer these might also include
a session in Highgate Woods.
Hampstead Heath.
There is usually a steady run of about an hour throughout the year; during the
summer months this will be over Hampstead Heath. During the autumn and winter
(September through to April) there are also structured interval sessions
(fast bursts with slow or stopped recoveries in between, the detail
changes week to week). These sessions
make for very good marathon training.
Finsbury Park.
There are interval sessions for road-runners throughout the year on the track
in Finsbury Park, aimed at improving speed and stamina.
Highgate Tube.
Training from this venue is usually a long, slow run.
