Train for a Marathon with Heathside
Angela after the Eindhoven marathon, Oct'05
Regular marathon runner Angela

Training for a marathon is an exciting challenge. Doing your training with London Heathside gives you the chance to train with other runners with the same goals, share your experiences, as well as get advice from experienced marathoners.

If you've just received notification that you've got a place in the 2008 London Marathon, then why not train with us? London Heathside usually has 30 or more runners in the London Marathon, one of the largest training groups in North London. Last year our times ranged from 2hrs 42mins to 6hrs 24mins with everyone else, including a number of first time marathon runners, spread in between.

Where to train with us
We have a number of training venues:

  • Harringay Club: Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm. Mixture of runs from 6 to 10 miles, including steady pace runs and occasionally interval training. For all standards; suitable for anyone who can run for 30 or 40 minutes continuously.
  • Hampstead Heath: Wednesdays at 7:00pm. Interval training - great for the improving runner, with the option of an easy paced run. For all standards; suitable for anyone who can run for 45 minutes continuously.
  • Finsbury Park Track: Tuesdays at 7:00pm. For more experienced runners; for example, someone who has run 10km in under 45 minutes.
  • Highgate Tube: Sundays at 10am. Come January and a lot of marathoners will start building up some distance on our regular Sundays runs. For all standards; suitable for anyone who has a couple of recent runs of over an hour.
