All The World's a Stage...

...Road Relay and all the Men and Women merely runners" - so might Shakespeare have wrote if he'd been a member of Heathside and running in the weekend's Big Event for the club, the SSEA Southern 12/6 Stage Road Relays around the Cyclopark in Gravesend, Comprising of 12 stages for Men (6 "long" legs of 7.2km & 6 "short" of 4.8km) and 6 for Women (2 "long" and 4 "short", both same distances as in the Mens' race), we had 16 men competing, and 8 women. The Women's Team A placed 10th, and the Mens Team A 27th - good enough to secure the club an invite to the National Relays on the 8th April in Sutton Coldfield, where the club will need a minimum of 12 Men and 6 Women to make up teams.

Elsewhere, a contingent of 10 ran 15 miles along the undulating trails of Epping Forest, there was a 10km in Hyde Park, and a Triathlon in Loughborough.

Half marathon heaven and club records smashed

22.03.2017 We were awash with half marathons this weekend, producing some outstanding times and reflecting the exhaustive and obviously effective marathon training in progress. Fastest Heathside man over the half marathon distance was Tom Aldred finishing in an impressive 1.08  at Reading in 18th place, and fastest Heathside lady was Kelly Thorneycroft, also at Reading, where she  finished in 1.22. Meanwhile over at Middlesex Indoor Championships, Richard Macaulay broke the Club’s indoor men’s 800m record and Rosa Serafini won the women's Middlesex 800m breaking her own club record, and she also broke the club 1500m record! Volunteer XC marshals needed for February
DATE: 22/01/2017

We're looking for volunteers to marshal at two races we're hosting in February.

Ally Pally Met League is February 11th and if you're not running it, we'd love you to get involved. We're also hosting the North West Young Athletes league on our new course at Hampstead Heath Extension on February 18th.

Volunteering makes you super-popular and a better human being. Plus, if you're not racing, you can have a good laugh at your club mates putting themselves through the wringer.
