Our teams compete at all levels in track and field, road and cross-country, with modest achievements in local events matched by success at county and national level.
Track and field
Heathside junior multi-eventers, senior middle-distance and veteran distance
runners are very strong at present. GB U23 international Ricardo Beckford was
ranked 10th in the UK at the decathlon in 2007 with 6760pts. Angla Howe's 3000m time
put her in Britain's top 10 women over 35.
Cross-country, road
We get our biggest turnouts for local cross-country and road events, with
Heathsiders both leading the field and bringing up the rear. Heathside senior men
finish well up the London Metropolitan Cross Country League, winning in 2005.
Fell running
London presents fewer opportunities for fell-running practice. However some of the
club runs round Hampstead Heath and Alexandra Palace are very hilly, and
twice recently Andy Welshman has won the
South of England fell running championships, Isle of Wight.
