The competitive focus for our small but friendly group of fell running enthusiasts is the South of England fell running championships, where our most notable successes include victory by Andy Welshman in 2002 and 2003.
The champs take the form of three races in the Isle of Wight over one weekend in September:
- RACE 1 The St Boniface Fell, 3 miles - 775 feet ascent Sat morning.
- RACE 2 The Ventnor Horseshoe, 7 miles - 1,500 feet ascent Sat afternoon.
- RACE 3 The Wroxall Round, 13 miles - 1,500 feet ascent Sun Morning
It is gruelling, to say the least, but the weekend is good fun. Contact if you are interested.
